My husband's nephew and his wife left this afternoon for his three-year State Department assignment at our embassy in Ankara, Turkey. His wife is five months pregnant with their first child.

My husband and I are concerned for them. Ankara's embassy has not been closed (which leads us to believe it might be seen as even more of a target than it would normally be). And we can only imagine what kind of a target a young, pregnant American woman driving around the city with diplomatic American license plates could be. I would not want to give birth in such an atmosphere, nor raise my child for his/her first three years amid such upheaval.

Those here who believe in the power of prayer ... I would ask that you might remember them occasionally in your prayers. Rick and I will be praying daily that the Lord will keep all three of them safe in the shadow of His hand.
