OK, I understand then if you don't have the data at your fingertips, but it seems to me that if you say something like Garfield High is great (presumably for educating disadvantaged kids) then you ought to be able to back this up with something--eventually. I mean you and Koan are arguing is all we have to do is put the wlefare kids in "super' schools and the problem will be solved.

I gave you the wiki link...........there are citations on that page supporting their conclusions.

ou are the one who is saying that schools like Garfield will work for single parent welfare kids--how do you know that?

Because I studied the concept when getting my Masters in education.

OK. Was this just somebody's theory in a textbook or did they actually cite working examples of this and if so what were they?

Of course working examples. The articles were peer reviewed.........typically that requires solid work to support your suppositions.

And let me add, breaking the poverty cycle thru education won't happen over nite. We'll be lucky if its done in two generations

Well, I think if you are right about welfare kids being educable in 'super" schools that in theory, once the schools were in place, it would only take one generation.

I don't know. There is a lot of baggage to break thru.
