That sounds good, but it does not seem to be true. All countries with single payer seem to be controlling costs much better than we are- with our system which often costs people quite a bit out of pocket. You should see the documentary "Hot Coffee". We've been sold a bill of goods in this country. All that crap about capping torts to "protect" consumers? Didn't happen. When tort damages were capped, the cost to consumers in places like Texas, where they were capped rather severely, went UP for health care, not down, as they should have. No doubt the insurance companies are making more, but that's not often a direct benefit to consumers, who probably figured their actual direct costs would go down.
