I too am anxiously awaiting OLE support from IQ. When I'm in a trade or actively considering a trade, I periodically copy values from the template into Excell and chart that way. Clumsy and tedious, but just as effective. OBV is an accumulation of the volume of each trade at the bid/ask (between the spread trades are not accumulated, since I thought it better not to guess. At the end of the day, these should mostly cance out anyway). A ratio is taken and converted to a number between -100 and +100; a value of 0 indicates an even balance of buy/sell volume. In this fashion, money flow is sort of 'baked into' the calculation. The same calculation is done for trades over 10k shares (Bid Dogs) and under 10k shares (Little Dogs); OBT (On-Balance ticks) is presented in the same manner. Yes, to have an entirely accurate OBV calculation the program must be running thruout the trading day. Since I day-trade full time, this is not a problem for me. Short outages, such as loss of ISP, don't materially effect the outcome. Also, the template provides an indication of change in OBV (I call this short-term OBV) for a period selectable by the user, I use 20 minutes). This helps to ease the effect of an outage. As to a demo ... hmmm, trying to think of a way to do that without giving away the store. Will post when I have a reasonable idea. Thanks for you input, 'preciate it! Mojo |
