I found an interesting report on welfare patients: nytimes.com Seems like these folks prefer regular old doctors- if they can get in to see them. Like me, they don't want to wait in emergency rooms (who does?). So while I think Neolib is wrong about welfare moms taking the kids all the time to the emergency room (it's pretty clear poor children are getting a lot less healthcare than everyone else)- when kids get really sick, or their parents think they are really sick, poor parents really have no where else to go, if they're going to be responsible, and try to get help for a child (and we do want them to be responsible, right? Especially those wingnuts who are so anxious to see every child born- that means they want every child cared for, right? Let's hope so. Jesus wants those babies to see a doctor.)
