I think what we need is more non-partisan takes on the welfare system in the form of data and questionnaires(the data inputs to approved by a bi-partisan joint House and Senate Committee) so that we can assess what is working in welfare and what is not. What we have now, IMHO, is the ideologues on both sides using it (arguments about it) to enhance their base--which doesn't do the nation any good--nor the welfare recipients either.
