Well, "our lifetimes" might not be long if you are already elderly. But it will be here before I croak.

Its the primary care Dr I want replaced. I want to be diagnosed by a computer who can beat 99% of the primary care Docs, just like Watson can beat 99.9999% of Chess or Jeopardy players.

There isn't much point of 10 years of post secondary education to make what amounts to a walking and talking database and search algorithm that screws up often if a better one can be implemented in a computer.

BTW, Qualcomm in conjunction with the X-prize foundation actually has a current challenge along these lines. IIRC, it must be a portable device which can more accurately diagnose 10 - 15 specified health issues with more reliability than Docs can. That is just the start of things...
