I don't find it strange that more rural areas have more disabled people; those in rural areas tend to do more physical work. Leading causes of disability include back problems, arthritis, and diabetes -- and I suspect diabetes is a stronger influence in the South.

These don't concern me so much as the blatantly fraudulent disability claims that have taken hold the last few years, giving rise to a substantial increase in claims.
