It was your post on evolution and beauty and death that inspired the concept in me of ethics/religion as a human evolutionary adaptation that eventually will keep us from ending the human race. I mean Jesus' teaching are counter-intuitive to our biological imperatives, but that's the point.

We've effectively reached the point with WMD's wherein if we don't curb our biological imperatives we are done for--so one could look at the development of ethics as really a higher form of evolving self preservation. .

It's Zen like.
