I agree to about the middle of your post -- that this is a rational explanation for why the Fed might hold off and this might be a rational explanation for why the markets moved as they have in anticipation of that -- but I think the market does more than anticipate these sorts of things and the most rational explanation may have nothing to do with what has happened -- i.e. why stock market has started to weaken and precious metals found a bid. the rest: thinking that the government can plan the economy -- it sounds very attractive and reasonable ... that's all I can say.
