AirPlay gives the iPad or iPhone the ability to display chosen video content on a large screen HDTV. Requirements are an AppleTV and high speed Wifi.

The iOS app, Podcast, will sleep when the Auto-lock engages due to inactivity, even though a video is playing over AirPlay. When this happens, the TV image freezes with no message of the problem. This forces the owner to either restart the video, where it continues from where it froze, or to set the Auto-lock to Never. Since the longest setting other than Never is 15 minutes, the owner usually selects Never, leading to an iPad with a premature dead battery.

Many of the TV content apps will either not use AirPlay at all or will play their commercials through AirPlay then deliver the program video through the iPad's screen with the sound delivered through the TV's speakers through AirPlay.

I've discovered the following apps to support AirPlay correctly:
CBS This Morning
PBS - Works very well.
Region8News
Watch TNT - Only if AirPlay is started on another app first
