"you do not know how SS works" There are those who deliberately confuse pensions and health insurance (medicare) with welfare. That's why they like to call earned benefits "entitlements." They also like to call people who pay all sorts of taxes, but don't make enuf to pay federal income tax as "welfare recipients". However, they don't want to increase salaries so these workers make enuf to pay taxes; instead, they just want to reduce the minimum income where federal taxes begin to $1.
