I find it fascinating that Balmer was in talks with Elop to acquire NOK just a couple of months ago when Balmer must have surely known he was preparing to leave MSFT .

Could be. These companies are joined at the hip at this point, at least wrt mobile. If you want to stretch things, you could almost say Nokia is a subsidiary of Microsoft. Is it healthy? Got me.
