For the first time that I've ever noticed, your comment/complaint seems to be absolutely unwarranted.

You would think that on most Internet community sites, a claim that the membership is never consulted on anything related to the site might draw some kind of comment or protest from management.


SI is the only web site which I've visited that has solicited input from its users.

Dmitry's opening post when setting up this thread in part says:

This topic is here to serve a repository for all new requested features and debate their merits.

Great improvements to SI are coming, and you can help contribute.

I certainly haven't been a fan of all the changes, but some of that (especially the drop down menus) was my resistance to change. Now I'm a fan of drop down - lets me go where I want to go with fewer clicks.
