Now that I am using RCN wifi with ARRS router, what they use in RCN cable plant becomes important. ARRS has equipment to assign jobs. But wep encryption is thru passphrase, which only works with newer wifi drivers. You need cable plant adjustments. Also suffers operating system data transfer rate limits(can not find websites). But, I soon found out wifi usage by customers are very short time each day. Their are only so many websites of interest.. Wifi will not be very busy each day, cable plant drop back on limited connection is never really needed. Its making money on bigdata websites easier than ever, if wifi usage time is short each day.
