No American under 21 has seen a Category 5 hurricane. August 24 was the 21st anniversary of Hurricane Andrew, the last category 5 hurricane to hit the US. Meanwhile, climate scientologist, Al Gore, recently said hurricanes have gotten so powerful and frequent a new Category 6 has been added. It was a lie - a stupid one: In an interview with Ezra Klein published this week in the Washington Post, Gore makes a number of statements replete with the hyperbola the public has come to expect. His most questionable statement however was about a change in the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. “The extreme events are more extreme. The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now they’re adding a 6,” Gore said. The claim drew immediate derision from across the spectrum. ....... The Post’s own Capital Weather Gang pulled no punches in its evaluation of Gore’s comment. “Gore’s statement about this new breed of hurricanes is patently false,” they said.
