Thanks Chip. I understand the way it is computed, and that method is sometimes used

to describe percentage improvements across layers (e.g. layered network protocols).

It may very well be normal. I don't really know. When compared to the SPX (arithmetic) over a long
time scale you see the following:

SPX: two peaks at roughly same level, and now a higher peak at 1700+

XVF: two peaks at roughly same level (corresponding to the SPX peaks) and a lower third peak.

It may be normal. I don't quite understand it.
