Bridge Player and All other experienced option players

I hear a lot about closing out option plays before expiration to prevent unknowns from destroying your gains.

Do you all have a rule that if we have 70% or 80% or 90% of our gains its time to get out of the trade?

I always tend to hold too long because I am in a good trade with a lot of downside protection and I don't

have any better ideas of how to replace the trade.

This is a general question to generate ideas.
