Thanks everyone for some good advice. Guess I need to develop some firm rules for getting out.
The reason for my current inquiry is I am doing my taxes for last year and I did a lot of trading on mostly put options. I noticed I had a lot of wins but a few big losses took the luster off. I am going to review my big losses and see if I can determine what happened.

I think I will do more naked calls on the various good news elements that unrealistically shoot a price up.

Thanks again
Delfino

On the taxes, I don't owe any money, so just need to get it done. I use Gainskeeper from TD Ameritrade and with the new IRS reporting on options, they have bugs that I manually have to audit. Takes time UGH!!
