We simply do not know what an attack on Syria might lead to.

Why not? What the heck do we have a Pentagon for.

There are lots of known knowns. Saudi is in league with the Chechian mercenaries being moved around Syria and posing a threat to Russia. Saudi also supports other Suni terrorists. Iran is in league with Assad and Hezbollah. Russia has thrown support behind Hezbollah and Iran. China is dying to confront America over its careless handling of the Middle East and to exploit the gaps left in the energy market as the USA backs off. The Islamist Revolutionaries in Syria are largely foreigners coming from various locations in Asia, which is threatening to destabilize the whole region. If Obama bombs Assad we know this whole apple cart is going to be upset. The Russians who have very well defined contingencies are afraid Obama's bumbling will initiate a WWIII. If Obama does nothing, foreign powers have once again called his bluff and found him to be full of gas.

Those are some of the known knowns. What about known unknowns? Why do we have no grand plans of super complex contingencies coming from the Pentagon? Or at least some statement of competency that would give the mainstream some feeling of confidence? Why do we have a President who seems to be flip flopping around in foreign affairs with no clear consistent doctrine for modern times, other than his commentary on urban America which has been completely unproductive?
