There's no doubt that Israel has been pushing for America to overthrow the secular Syrian government and thus divide the country to Israel's advantage. Israel has stated more than once that it's to their benefit to divide the sectarian groups in all surrounding countries.

I don't side with Israel much (and I'm not here), but I'm pretty sure the Israeli government is against us getting involved with Syria right now.
