YOu have to ask the 5 why's of root cause analysis. We have done well, because we have the most money, that's true. But we have the most money, because we have had a great economic playground do acquire the most money. Recently, it's become so corrupt that what we are left with is crony-capitalism with ineffectual regulations and an executive branch that refuse to prosecute the economic criminals. That is what is ailing us. Socialism is not the cure. A return to properly enforced and properly regulated Capitalism is the cure.

BTW, I don't make connections by guessing. I have a deep economics education and have spent most of my life reading economic textbooks from Keynesian and Austrian economists alike. My conclusions stem from all of that research and knowledge. I think on of the biggest problems we have today is the lack of historical knowledge among modern economists and American laymen. Even a layman can look at the broad sweep of economic history and realize that this time will NOT be different. Consequences take time to develop and in the process root causes get confused, but the consequences always develop when countries engage in currency manipulation and monetary laxity. In addition, countries always lose freedom and Democracy as a result of an increasingly meddlesome nanny state. The further towards Socialism we go, the more freedoms are lost. That is why we have typically seen Socialistic ideals result in despotic political entities, which are ultimately what is required to enforce their Socialistic will on unwilling participants who prefer their freedom to decide what is best for themselves.
