New York Times Calls for Illegal War in Syria, Urged Resistance to the ‘Rush to War’ in Iraq

My, how times have changed. Can you imagine them printing something like this back prior to the Iraq invasion?

Neither can we. In fact the Bush administration made their case before the United Nations and had Congressional authorization. But the 18-month buildup to Iraq (post 9/11) was called a rush to war in none other than The New York Times.

That was then, this is Obama. In fact just this past April Obama adviser Rachel Maddow told us Obama has learned a lesson from Bush’s rush to war in Iraq. Today Obama’s plans a “shot across the bow” in Syria, despite reports saying it’s inconclusive that Bashar Assad was directly responsible for the WMD attack last week in Syria.
But even without hard evidence tying Mr. Assad to the attack, administration officials asserted, the Syrian leader bears ultimate responsibility for the actions of his troops and should be held accountable.
“The commander in chief of any military is ultimately responsible for decisions made under their leadership,” said the State Department’s deputy spokeswoman, Marie Harf — even if, she added, “He’s not the one who pushes the button or says ‘go’ on this.”
So there’s no conclusive evidence Assad was directly responsible, but he’s ultimately responsible. It’s curious that 10 days after the Syrian slaughter Obama is 100% sure Assad is responsible, but after a year we have zero answers on Benghazi, never mind the targeting of conservatives by the IRS. Using his logic, Obama is directly responsible for the egregious actions of the IRS.
