"In the old days Christians were apologetic and wanted their mettle tested. Now they think they can be in charge and run the show."

Interesting take on Chosen People, then and now. The idea that God has written special affection for Chosen People who will go to heaven while all others will go to Hell to burn forever (but without being purified or released) is certainly a foolish one. There are over 30,000 Christian sects who are the elected and true people of God! And of course there are myriad other religions whose members are (surprise!) Chosen by God to go to Heaven--while all others will be tortured forever!

Keep in mind that the atheist is no more scheduled for Hell than any of the other millions of people from thousands of religious faiths! Yet for some reason, all the various Chosen Peoples vent their spleen on the free thinkers! I guess because they are all bonded in belonging to the world of superstition! They openly support one another in superstitious nonsense while conveniently neglecting to discuss the fact (as they see it) that all of the superstitious are going to Hell except for the members of one superstitious sect! And for all of these self-centered and obnoxious "rulers" it is Me and Me and Me and ME. No--Me!!

So the Mormon looks at the Baptist and the Methodist and the Anglican and the Amish--and they all look back at each other--knowing in their fuzzy little minds that the others are hell-bound but too polite to say so! But as the Free Thinking man or women of Reason walks by, they all group together like a mangy pack of hounds and howl their hatred and spit their vitriol!

Yes you are right! All these irrational people want to be in charge and run the show. Their pretense to a higher morality and preferential status is more than annoying--especially, as we Free Thinkers dish out our dimes to feed and care for so many of them in our prisons.
