As they should. Why shouldn't they?

The question is why should they? They cannot do this if their competitors are not paying the same. And they should not pay more if there are plenty of people asking for jobs. By paying more they are rewarding for mediocre work that anybody can do. Only those who work hard should get paid more.

BTW their minimum wage went up to $15.50 a year ago. And thats less than $14 US. So making a profit with $15 wages in Australia is not the same as making a profit at $15 in the US. If they paid them then people would simply take their business elsewhere and the McDonalds workers would be fired and be paid minimum wage at Burger King.
