CJ, Why should she have a greater influence on politics than you or I? a) Because people choose to watch her, listen to her, follow her recommendations, etc.
b) Because if I had as much influence as she did, Romney would have won in 2012, and I bet you wouldn't like that one bit.
c) Because if you had as much influence as she did, you might have actually caught the guy who hacked into Anthony Weiner's account, LOL ...
Bottom line is that she knows how to be successful. The rewards may be astronomically tilted in her favor, but it took a combination of hard work, skill, and good fortune to get there. All of those are traits that should be encouraged in a free market.
Once you decide that she makes too much, others will decide that YOU make too much as well. All of your arguments about "velocity of money" apply just as much to you as they do to Oprah. And I'm pretty sure that Oprah knows how to invest that money better than you or I.
By the way, Bentass thinks Miley Cyrus is an example of someone who makes too much, but people like her tend to squander their fortunes and end up back in poverty. Same with people who win the lottery. Too many of them squander their money and end up back where they were. You can't tell me that they're better with money than Oprah, or Tim Cook for that matter.
