Whoever disagrees with Moynihan must explain this: Lots of confusion here. That's, of course, not Moynihan's argument, per se. More than that, there are assumptions within assumptions as to the meaning of these rates. I see Dale mentions the correlation/causation issue. That leaps to mind. I haven't read the serious literature lately on child rearing in single parent homes or out of wedlock birth homes but I wouldn't be surprised to find that if the research controlled for the obvious variables--income and education levels, there was little, if any difference, between those families and married families. I'm afraid what you've done is simply throw your preferences/prejudices into a chart for us to see.
