Wasn't there a charge for posting on this site when you signed up twelve years ago?

I know there certainly WAS A CHARGE when I signed up, and indeed, there is NO CHARGE now.

Now we have a greatly improved and user-friendly site at no charge. Maybe a thank you for new features would be more in order than complaints.
