One of the more serious methodological problems with Pat Moynihan's assertions was the same as with this poster. Just put up ethnic differences and generalize them like crazy. It's also important to point out that Moynihan was a long time member of a group of social scientists whose ideological bent was in this direction as well.

To say his assertions were controversial is to be a bit kind.
