Doesn't have anything to do with guilt. It has to do with doing the right thing and stopping a problem that exists.

Jeez I am less than one generation removed from immigrants with funny accents and ethnic last names... I deal with minorities all the time don't treat them any different than white people. I try to surround my self with good people.

Don Lemon just because he is gay and his father was a mechanic can't understand hood culture so should not be a voice? God forbid his mother was highly educated and he learned to speak well at an early age. Guess he was branded an uncle Tom early on probably made his life a living hell growing up (not too mention the gay part).

I never said he was an Uncle Tom. Don Lemon sees things thru the prism which he developed growing up. We need to cause more Lemon families in this country where the kids have enough of an advantage so they stay in school and get educated. Right now we have too many kids........mostly young black and brown males.....dropping out of school by the time they get to the tenth grade. That perpetuates the poverty cycle...........and the violence and the gangs.

Best thing we can do is have more voices like his, like our current president who don't look or sound much like they were raised in the hood. If all I saw and heard growing up was the Italian mob mentality I would probably have turned out different myself.

You had choices..............that's all I am trying to do for the poor in this country.......is to make sure they have viable choices.
