…they're pests to most folks.
We have an iron fence around the back of our yard, and when Sally had the fabricators do the design (with Fleur-de-lis), she made sure they were covered with a loop of iron so the critters wouldn't get speared with one. Trouble is they've (over a period of about twenty years) managed to get a leg caught in a loop, every once in a while. I've personally had to release two of them, and those had broken their legs trying to get loose. Sad, but true. And didn't have a chance to put them down (no weapon).

Best intentions, gone awry. :-(
