I don't think that he has gotten out of it yet. I would say that it is likely that Congress will pass some kind of authorization giving him the green light for a limited strike against Syria. Then what will he do, He'll have to do something. Plus Assad may even repeat his chemical weapons attack again then what.

No, Obama should have stated that while Syria is a pariah for using chemical weapons that in this case a military strike by the US would only make the situation there worse. Taking a [small] hit from the US will only boost Assad's standing in the Arab world.

Obama is trying to have his cake an eat it and it going to turn out to be another blunder.

Plus his precedent of asking Congress to vote on these kinds of limited strikes is going to handicap any future president as well. This may turn out to be a good thing as I think that all of these cruise missile strikes are getting out of hand, but this precedent will certainly diminished the power of the Presidency going forward.
