Al,
I can't think of a nobler goal.

We're never going to end poverty. That's a pipe dream.

It's our moral obligation to help the poor. Liberals don't want that.

Instead, they want to create a utopia where such an obligation isn't required.

That explains, among other things, why liberals will hardly ever help the poor themselves, but will always vote to have government help the poor.
