And even though the test scores are rising there, and that is a good thing, and I'm glad Tejek brought it to our attention here, (gives one hope that the schools can be fixed--at least in Seattle), I would still like to know how this breaking out for the kids from the poorer Seattle neighborhoods--are they participating in the rising test scores?

The fact that Black scores have improved for one group may be significant, but we don't know for sure if we don't know where these kids live--whether they're poor or not.

And, yes, I agree Seattle demonstrates both the kind of demographics and political will (because they have the money) that make their problems easier to address then other cities that have budget problems and more poor people.
