Gregor - for me trading and investing take two separate paths that rarely cross. When there is an unexpected pop in stock price (either way), I'll often look at an investment as a trade. One of my practical market mantras is "you can probably buy it back cheaper" - and it seems like that is true 90% of the time. Sometimes you would just rather have the cash than the uncertainty.
For me, it made sense - especially since VOD was held in a non-tax acct.
