Up more than 38% on a year-over-year basis to trade at $3.90, NOK received some bullish attention today, after inking a deal to sell its handset business to Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) for approximately $7.2 billion. Oppenheimer raised the stock -- which is up 44% ahead of the bell -- to "perform" from "underperform," while Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, and Bernstein also handed out upgrades and/or price-target hikes. However, there is still plenty of skepticism levied against Nokia Corporation (ADR). Short interest currently accounts for 5.7% of the equity's available float -- or more than 14 sessions' worth of pent-up buying demand, at NOK's average daily trading volume. In other words, the shares could end up benefiting from future short-covering activity, in light of today's news.
