*AV*--Funny you should mention "the covered porch" and TV, and such.
We used to own 2 TVs until my wife decided that a TV in the upstairs Living Room was no longer going to be tolerated. So, she put it in the older girls' bedroom, 10 ft away from the "Family Room" TV. We have dueling TVs. To make matter worse, even though each of the younger kids (10 and 14)have enormous bedrooms with desks (I had to share a small room when I was growing up so I made sure MY KIDS were better off than I was).

Well, good desks, comfortable chairs, great lighting and PCs for each and what do they do???? They plop down on the couch in front of the 35" JVC TV and contort their bodies to do homework or to read. So, guess what??? My wife yells at me to turn the damn thing off because the kids are doing homework and shouldn't be distracted with the mindless crap or turn the channel because there is too much sex, drugs, alcohol, or violence and is inappropriate for the kids. Meanwhile, this is the woman that will watch the same damn HBO movie day in and day out for the entire month each time it comes on.

So, I go into the older stepdaughters' room to be treated like I was some derelict breaking into their chalet and invading their privacy. They are 22 and 26 (Yeah I Know what you are going to say so don't even go there, I never expected them to move back in and take over my corner of the castle). Consider yourself lucky that you can actually occasionally watch some TV. Close to 4000 sq ft of house and the entire family congregates in a 300 sq ft "multi-purpose room" (multi things that cannot be done but where these things reside: TV, Stereo, VCR, etal.)

What I wouldn't give to watch 2 hours of TV when I want to, especially on a big screen. All I =get to do is watch the talk shows after the market closes. But what is the point??? there are only so many perverted and pathetic things that Jerry Springer, Sally Jessy, etal can present on their programs.

On the smoking front: I recently sold my CIG shares knowing full well that the cigar smokers were being chased out of the house with their stogies. As the cold weather approaches and we try to sneak indoors, Momma chases us out (Right Boys) but it is too cold to hang out on the back deck or porch. Therefore, CIG sales drop until Springtime when the outdoors become the ashtray of delight.

Now to some actual business. I thought this might be of interest. We don;t need Chop Stocks, sleazey Market Makers, paid promoters or other unsavory types to pick on when we can pick on the cream of the crop of stocks.

BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 8, 1997--Notice is hereby given that a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on behalf of all purchasers of 3Com Corp. ("3Com" or the "Company") common stock between May 19, 1997 and Nov. 6, 1997 inclusive (the "Class Period").

The complaint charges 3Com and certain of its officers and directors with violations of the federal securities laws.

The complaint alleges that during the Class Period, 3Com and several of its top insiders (the "defendants") manipulated and artificially inflated the price of 3Com's common stock by making a series of false and misleading statements about 3Com's success in integrating U.S. Robotics' operations into 3Com's operations, demand for 3Com's products and the state of 3Com's channel inventory.

These allegedly false statements artificially inflated the price of 3Com stock, allowing 3Com's insiders to dispose of 2.6 million shares, for proceeds of over $131 million.

Five insiders sold 100% of their 3Com shares, seven sold 44%-88% of
their 3Com shares and four sold 10%-25% of their 3Com shares, all before the truth regarding the severe problems with 3Com's disastrous U.S. Robotics merger, bloated channel inventories and greatly diminished revenue and earnings prospects began to be revealed and the price of 3Com stock dropped to as low as $28+ per share.

Oh, to have scruples and integrity such as these individuals. Perchance to dream!!!<GGG>
