I knew hundreds, thousands of kids saved by community colleges. Including myself. And we were all from working class families with little money and lived in a very tough town, Richmond California.

My cousin got a phd in biology (after going to the community college) and his two sisters, one got pregnant at 15, both eventually went on to get masters degrees.

So no one can tell me what people can do and how valuable community colleges are.

And I know personally how ignorant I was at 18 compared to what I know today.

I was as ignorant as a person can be at 18. I thought society meant high society. The world was a void. And I had no idea what the difference was between the dem and pub party was.

Today I have a pretty good understanding of existentialism, Zen and quantum mechanics and could teach philosophy at the university level, IMO.

Our community college made all that possible. Without it god only knows how I would have ended up. I came out of a paper bag factory to go to community college with high school grades of C,d and fs.

In the beginning it took me a week to write a 500 word paper and it was terrible.
