Sure there are lots of success stories, and I think the CC's do a pretty good job given what they have to work with. BTW, I live near one which is claimed to be the top or in the top 5 in the nation. I don't know by what metric... On-line/distance learning will be interesting to watch as well. In some sense, a good education can be had for nearly free now, but you have to want it and have some discipline, and not care about the diploma on the wall, although that part might change in the not too distant future (I'm sure it will have changed in the more distant future).
