There's even a scholarly book out there that says Jesus was a sacred mushroom, though I'm more inclined to think he was an actual guy who ate some and came back with some good insights. <g>

But yeah, whatever he actually had to say got mangled by history over the centuries, not to mention church politics ... same as with all the others, probably.
