How about the link you posted, which says:

However, I would be remiss in not pointed out the ridiculousness of the claim that Ford thought by giving his employees raises, and thereby allowing them to afford to buy cars, he would make more money. Ford wasn't a stupid man. He realized that by paying more, he would be able to increase production.

The concept of Churchill's man in a bucket, trying to lift himself by the handle, applies here.
