Democratic strength is now concentrated in fewer but more heavily populated areas. Polarization has intensified as voters in over half the nation’s counties cast landslide margins for one presidential candidate or the other. These tendencies are intensifying and have spilled over to Congressional elections, leading to legislative paralysis. Self-perpetuating clusters of the like-minded lead voters and their representatives away from the center.

To me its a mixed bag. Part of the resurgence in Dem strength is due to the abysmal Bush years; part of is that areas that tend to be liberal like SF, Austin or Seattle are doing well and are growing; part of it is blacks came out and voted in numbers never seen before because of Obama. Obama's popularity created a kind of coalition........don't know if it will survive him. What do you think?

BTW you know whom I would like to see run for president.................Caroline Kennedy. I like her because she's smart, well educated, a lawyer, and she doesn't want to be president.
