So you think Santa is coming to the loading dock...a little snow might help soften the landing. Believe me we have our share of snow .

Powerful new vaccine
against AIDS developed in
Britain

Scientists in Britain have developed an experimental
vaccine against AIDS that they say is ten times more
powerful than previous ones.

The vaccine stimulates the body's defences against the
virus that causes AIDS and contains chemicals
designed to produce strong immune responses.

The publicly-funded Medical Research Council in
London tested it on thirty volunteers not at risk from
AIDS, and also on animals.

Doctors now want to launch a large-scale trial on
humans at risk, perhaps in Africa -- the area of the world
worst affected by the disease.

A United Nations report released this week said one in
every hundred sexually active adults worldwide was now
infected with HIV -- the virus that can lead to AIDS.

Correspondents point out that most developing nations
can't afford the expensive drug treatments now being
developed in the West.
