But, the use of chemical weapons needs to be discouraged.
I wonder what encouraged their use in the first place.

Plenty of people have been wondering why Assad would want to do this, and whether this was actually a ploy by the rebels to bring America into the conflict.

I hypothesized that maybe Assad was desperate enough to do this, that the rebels were actually making significant gains. But that's a WAG on my part.

And even if Assad came out of this "victorious," what then? He'll become the next Saddam Insane. All he needs is another "Bush" in the White House, and he'll end up with a targeting laser forever pointed at his forehead.
