OT: Don't believe that Amish Mafia stuff.
The Amish, and to some extent the Mennonites,
have little use for modern ways. In central PA
all good food must have an Amish connection,
every good piece of furniture must be Amish made,
every good yard shed must be Amish built, ad nauseum.
Apparently no one else can do things as well... BS !!
I'm tired of Amish everything!
In PA, the Amish have good farmland on rolling hills.
Similar to western Kentucky or Tennessee, or Missouri.
They try not to rely on the outside world too much.
No phones, no electricity, no cars (Mennonites do drive
plain black cars, even chrome bumpers painted black.)
They till the land with horse drawn plows. Very strict
religious laws, and social etiquette.
Admirable, but not really my cup of tea.
They have their own ways/world. I doubt that they know
what the word Mafia means. Maybe they heard it in town
when they bring handmade stuff(quilts, baked goods, hex
signs, etc.) in to sell. |
