| | | I am so over the place on my opinion of what is the best thing to do. Someone posted a piece on how liberals are having internal dialogues: "on the one hand this and on the other that." I've been doing this all week.
This answer by Obama in the post that I'm responding to impacted me. He is not W and although there are some similarities in this situation to 03(Maureen Dowd), who is POTUS could not be more different, imo.
This response by a very liberal friend of a friend who was upset with today's Senate Panel's decision also impacted me:
"Don't start fighting with me. I don't like to argue on Facebook. Just giving my opinion. Not saying I'm right... but time and again I think Obama has proven that he's smarter than us. He takes the long view. This isn't Iraq. This is more like Sarajevo. Now, as then, hundreds of thousands being killed by a ruthless dictator. Bad guys on both sides of the Bosnian conflict, but one murderer, Milosovic, stands and continues to kill. This is that. Doctors Without Borders have described the events in Syria. There are two million refugees. This one isn't about oil. Do we look away, like in Rwanda? I don't know the answer, but I'm uncomfortable taking my normal pacifist position on this one. Everything Obama does is measured. It's a difficult decision. It's the world's toughest job. He's followed the constitution by letting congress decide. I'm sorry, but he's earned my trust. I'm just sayin."

I have no wisdom to add to this debate. I wish for all of us some consolation that some how we will get thru this one too----no matter which way it goes. |
