Every culture has their mafia. There was a program on the history channel the other day about a fellow who takes care of and problems the Amish might have with their neighbors. He also lent money or replaced things that broke, or animals that had to be put down.

He lives near to them, but is not Amish, and I came away with the impression he was a sort of Godfather to them.

Sorry I can't remember his name.
