I'm wondering if another factor in the world leaders reticence has a punitive component: enmity toward Obama/US given the revelations about the NSA spying on them. Thinking out loud without a TV to know whether this has already been hashed out.

If there were a way to go after Assad himself, I would do that.

Absolutely. After his get OBL operation we can have no doubt that Obama would too(!).

Superlatives are impotent in describing the kind of person Assad must be. To do this heinous act knowing how paralyzed and ineffective the UN Security Council would be.

Putin has poisoned his own in this modern era. I forget the name of one of his huge opponents that he had poisoned while traveling in Europe.

That these men can actually do these things is beyond the scope of 99% of humanity's understanding.
