Chemicals react, they don't evolve....but they do self organize into more complex molecules all the time under right conditions, we have basic experiments demonstrating this in the labs since the 1950s.

One wouldn't expect the same type of chemical systems emerging now that happened in the churning amino acid rich prebiotic oceans, for now the microbial world & biotic spheres that taken over most of the world niche. New theories are congealing all the time that have emerged in the last 70-100yrs, the chemical reactions around volcanic vents are being much studied now.
