I think made the point quite clear about the real powerful influence of Hellenization & hope that was in the world at the time. These modern day literalists lack several things (besides IQ's) one of which is getting past all the made up fantasies & baked up traditional views in a bible filled with just nonsense, to the way the world really was at the time.

Of course like any & all cultural shift then as now, such subscription to that new cosmopolitan Hellene pov were the enticements of success in business, joining the elite,to travel freely, have some say in gov't, the ability to enjoy a good night out at the theatre, & spending your sundays watching a good chariot race or athletic competitions.

But wait, that would describe America to a "T" , what longNsnort would fight & die for ;o)
